The Origins of Brick's Downtown Bar & Grill
Brandon Bartow, the owner of Bartow Builders, had his eye on the former Huchthauen Hardware store and the former Studio 8/Rockin’ Blues House, housed at 939 S 8th Street, since he moved to Manitowoc close to 30 years ago. So when it became vacant, he jumped on the opportunity to turn it into something that would restore the building back to its original beauty. He bought the building in March of 2020 right before the COVID-19 shut down and began to get to work. “When I moved to town years ago, the thing that I noticed about Downtown Manitowoc was this building. I love this building. I thought some things were added to it throughout the years that maybe made it not look as appealing as it had when it was originally built.” Brandon told Seehafer News during an interview.
He was determined to invest in the community in which he lives and said “it was time to give back and do some great things to a building, of which he truly appreciates the architecture.” During the total remodel, he restored it to the original state when it was built in 1884 including putting the storefront windows back in that were in the building before and opening the space back up to its original use.
Brick's Downtown Bar & Grill opened on December 4th, 2020, and has been a thriving bar/restaurant/private event space ever since. Stop and check it out for yourselves!
BRIX currently offers two separate spaces.
The first floor features a bar and dining room and the second floor features a lounge and private dining space.
First Floor: Dining Room & Bar
The first-floor dining room and bar provide an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone!
We offer comfortable seating for a maximum capacity of 199 people. Brick's also has an outdoor deck with limited seating.
Our seasonal food and cocktail menus are always available, and we offer weekly specials mixed in. Brick's is known for its burger selection, flatbreads, wraps, and salads. All sauces are made in-house.
Second Floor: Cornerstone Lounge & Bar
The second-floor lounge is available to rent out for private gatherings. It is also used on busier days as an option for overflow seating.
The cozy space includes comfortable seating and a fully stocked bar. The lounge bar encompasses a collection of high-end liquors including whiskeys, scotches, and bourbon. The maximum capacity is 110 people for the lounge.
